Psalm Frond, a person who Kye grew up with, tells their story about growing up in a small town, being bullied, and coming to terms with queerness (which was maybe there all along).  Psalm and I were never friends and this is one of our first substantial conversations--we share SO many similarities!

Psalm and I also talk about ADHD;
being labeled as "other" and "gay" by others (also just being called "gay" or "faggot" as an insult);
not conforming;
toxic environments;
patriarchy, toxic masculinity, and the cult of masculinity;
creating your own meaning;
being home-schooled & alternative education;
clothing style as personal & political activism;
being bullied and in turn fighting back;
the importance of having families/people with different values in your life;
challenging your own gender & coming to terms with our own queerness or otherness;
being misgendered & the "category crisis";
childhood queer experiences;
privilege;
being a willing (sometimes unknowingly) agent of patriarchy;
and SO MUCH MORE!

This is a really cool episode (especially for me) and if you're queer or were ever an outsider, a weirdo, or a freak, you will connect with it!

Not REALLY an episode, but Kye talks about WHY they didn't release a proper episode this week + the future of the podcast.  It's a short one (or long if you hate my voice)...

Kye also talks about:
QUITTING smoking and all the horrors that go along with that;
interviewing Laura Jane Grace, Rodney Mullen and Kim Gordon;
feeling exhausted and spread thin;
feeling grumpy; being a psychotic bitch;
SSRIs & medication;
Medisafe (the app);
depression & suicide and the humour involved in the thought process;
SELLING OUT;
coming out as trans;
facing fears;
reckoning with my own transphobia;
celebrity and fame;
what to do with the podcast;
what the fuck "success" means;
the balance between self-care and "productivity";
basing my self-worth on other people's opinions;

Piotr Burek, tells his story of testing positive for HIV and how he's learned to navigate his emotions and live a healthy life.

Piotr and I also talk about being queer (or gay) and being outed without consent, complex family dynamics, moving to safer places, dating a sex worker, disclosing (to partners and others), STIs, being overwhelmed, the process of testing HIV+ as a young person, feeling dirty, shame, catholic guilt, feeling like you've been given a death sentence, stigma around disclosure and HIV, feeling vulnerable, using drugs and alcohol to numb feelings, antiretroviral drugs, support systems, cruising sites, support groups, having a sex life after testing positive, serodiscordant relationships, awareness of transmission risks, serosorting, sex positivity, polyamory, monogamy, "soul mates", being cheated on, jealousy, ownership, taking responsibilty for your own health, sex risks, AIDS, and SO MUCH MORE!

This is SUCH an interesting conversation and people NEED to hear about this (and also to tell their stories).  This is how we break down stigma!

Artist/musician Kay Gallivan tells the story of her brother's suicide and the pain it caused her and the family.  Kay and Kye also discuss depression, grief, family, loss, trauma, CBT, the physicality of mental illness, the importance of reaching out and talking, self-worth, emotions, feminism, masculinity (and the stigma attached to talking about feelings), mindfulness, meditation, existential depression and so much more.

This is a touching story, my friends, and this topic is SUPER important for us humyns to discuss and question.  Maybe you've never experienced depression or suicidal ideations, but I can guarantee someone you know has--NO MORE STIGMA!
